Developmental Tests

The APGAR is a quick, overall assessment of newborn physical well-being and is used immediately following the delivery of a baby, at one minute and five minutes from the time of birth. Apgar stands for appearance, pulse, grimace response, activity, and respiration; this test measures the baby's color, heart rate, reflexes, muscle tone, and respiratory effort. APGAR scores range from 0-2 for each condition with a maximum final total score of ten.

The Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) is an assessment tool used with individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other language delays. it measures how well an individual performs against an objective rather than another student. It provides a baseline assessment prior to intervention as well as opportunities for follow-up assessment periods, such as every 4 to 6 months. It allows us to see the progress of the student over time and identify areas of deficit and strength.

The Denver II is a widely used assessment for examining children 0-6 years of age as to their developmental progress. It was designed to assess child performance on various age-appropriate tasks and compares a given child's performance to the performance of other children the same age. The instrument consists of 125 tasks, which broadly reflect the following areas: personal-social, fine motor-adaptive, language, and gross motor.
